End of October in Portsmouth, south of England,is the day of the famous road race GreatSouthRun on a course of 10miles.One of the most historic road-race where many stars had run during last years.

MEN:

2011-duel in men race will be between two kenyans:Leonard Patrick Komon and Abel Kirui.
Komon, world record holder of 10k and 15k is said in good shape after a solid triumph in a 10k recently in Berlin. On the distance of 10miles he could be able,if in right day, to attack race-record of kenyan Joseph Ebuya who run 45’16” last year in that windy day.
Leonard Komon was the first man able to run a 10k under 27’ when one year ago in Holland he stop time in 26’44” .Even if so young, thig guy on the road had big talent and the way for his first halfmarathon start from the english race.
Against him,the other star will be Abel Kirui twice marathon world champion. This will be his first race after amazing victory in Daegu las August. In his dreams, after 2 world gold-medals,there is only Olympic Games next year in the near London. In Portsmouth he want to check his condition and start the long training for London with the trust of kenyan federation.
Moroccan Bourandane (placed in Daegu) and irish will be top contenders in this amazing race but particular attention will be given to local Chris Thompson. The 2010 european silver medallist will also run for national 10mile champ and on english road-race we are expecting an improvement as seen in Manchester against Gebre last may.

WOMEN:
Ethiopian Mergia will have num.1 in women-race.Last run was third in LondonMarathon in 2h22’38” and this year in Dubai in “slower” 2h22’45”.With a personal best of 67’22” in halfmarathon and a 31’54” on 10k run both during 2010 edition of Ras al Kaimah halfmarathon, she will probably unbeatable in Portsmouth.Behind the strong african, very interesting to see english Purdue:a young talent growing very much and last month in Edinburgh able to run in front the best kenyans without anykind of fear. She could be the real surprise of the race.
Speaking about kenyans we have two names to underline:Irene Cherotich (2010 Commonwealth Games Marathon champ) and Doris Changeiywo with the first seemed not so good in Edinburgh while the second one given by her staff in pretty good shape and able to run 69’ in halfmarathon at the beginning of season.
Italian Anna Incerti (bronze medal in marathon in Barcellona eurochamps in 2010) will be a solid contender in this race:she was fourth last year and this will be her first race after sixth place in BerlinMarathon with new PB of 2h25’32”;she has 69’06” as PB in halfmarathon run in february in Italy wiith her speed-run very increased in 2011.

Good luck to thousands and thousands who will run in Portsmouth this sunday!Race will be broadcast by english Channel5 at 10.30am GMT
